This is the time of month when Gulf News congratulates its readers for the photographs they have taken.

Gulf News Picture Editor Devadasan K.P. picked the three best reader pictures that were published on the Your Turn pages during May.

It is easy to take a photograph because of all the beautiful subjects that are around. However, it is the way that the photo is taken that makes it special — the composition and the lighting set the mood and tell the story behind what is captured.

Last month saw a variety of pictures from all over the world.

Devadasan said: "There were many pictures taken internationally and they were very good. They do not focus only on scenic beauty."

He also noticed that there were many human elements in the photographs. He added: "The readers are not just documenting, they are using photography as a form of art."

This is the place where photographers show off their work.

Here are the three Gulf News readers who have used photography to tell a story.
