While walking around the Sharjah Corniche area a few days ago, I spotted a disturbing sight. Throughout the stretch of road, all street lights were left switched on at 7.30am. This scene is ironic, as street lights are not necessary during the morning hours. Yet, I notice this happening every day.
Therefore, I would like to bring this issue to the attention of the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) as this is an extremely worrying situation.
I took this photo early in the morning, when the sun had risen, and was shocked to see the immense waste of electricity. In a beautiful place like Sharjah, where people are encouraged to save water and electricity in favour of Mother Nature, such wastage is certainly unacceptable.
This scene was troubling and I felt very helpless about it. With this in mind, I hope that the concerned authorities realise the need to do something about the issue.
