I have a concern that I would like to raise regarding Al Majaz Park in Sharjah.

The park was closed for a long time last year in preparation for the Water Festival in Sharjah in December 2010.

The gates of the park that open onto Jamal Abdul Nasser Street have been closed ever since the work started.

Long journey

Since then, residents living around the park have been entering the park from the opposite side — where the new road has been laid.

Residents living along Jamal Abdul Nasser Street have to walk around the park to get inside. My question is — why are the authorities not opening the gates of the park on all sides?

People can access the park from along the main road, so what is the point of preventing people from using the gates to access the park?

I hope the authorities will consider my concerns and open the gates for the convenience of park users.
