Litter ruining this spectacular habitat

Gulf News reader Chithra Parameswaran took this photograph on a recent
visit to Tilapia Lake in Al Ain.

She said: ‘To say it is a beautiful place is an understatement! But it is really sad to see that people have littered the area with plastic bottles and chips packets. I would like the Al Ain authorities to take the necessary steps to preserve and protect Tilapia. The place is beautiful for tourism. I’ve heard that the lake is filled with fish — imagine the damage this plastic could cause to their natural habitat.’
