Jaywalkers in Abu Dhabi do not think of the consquences

Despite the pedestrian underpass installed in Electra Street, Abu Dhabi, many people continue to cross the road at undesignated areas. It is actually a common sight as people tend to cross the road where the road dividers are broken.

In today’s hectic lifestyle, people tend to value their time more than their lives. They don’t mind putting their life at risk without noticing the consequences, just in order to save a few minutes.

According to the National Safety Council, in the United States, 5,900 pedestrians are killed by a motor vehicle each year and another 84,000 sustain non-life-threatening injuries.

It is just an accident waiting to happen.

I urge relevant authorities to repair the broken road dividers so that it would discourage people to cross the road at undesignated areas and to adhere to the safety rules for their own good.

The best way to prevent most pedestrian accidents is for everyone to follow the rules of the roads. People still continue jaywalking. It happens everyday.
