Almost 40,000 have left the country, with more going in the next two weeks
Abu Dhabi: As many as 61,826 people took advantage of the two-month UAE amnesty which ended on Saturday, officials said.
"More than 38,505 illegal residents left the country, while 23,321 people collected their outpasses but are yet to leave within the next fortnight," said Major General Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, Acting Undersecretary of Federal Naturalisation, Residency and Ports Affairs.
