Sharjah: The sixth annual Pink Caravan Ride will continue its 10-day journey on Wednesday from Fujairah to Khor Fakkan to raise more awareness about breast cancer among the community.

The 198km ride, which began on Monday from the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, will pass through all seven emirates and wrap up its tour in Abu Dhabi on March 17.

Over 100 well-trained horseback riders from different nationalities have volunteered to be part of the ride. On Wednesday, they will get together at City Centre Fujairah at 9am and wrap the third day of the ride at Oceanic Khor Fakkan Resort at 4.30pm.

The initiative by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) aims to spread community awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, and the offering of free screenings across the UAE.

The community has been urged to benefit from the free medical services offered by the clinics, and to follow the advice and tips of Pink Caravan’s medical teams.

The mobile and medical clinics are open daily from 9am-7pm at specific locations in each emirate, which will be announced daily. On Wednesday, the medical clinics will be available at Al Thamid Clinics in Sharjah, and Fujairah Hospital, while the mobile medical clinic will be at Khor Fakkan Hospital.

The medical booth at Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah will continue to welcome people who want to undergo screening and seek advice about breast cancer and its preventive methods. The clinic is open daily from 4pm-10pm throughout the 10-day horseback ride.

The Pink Caravan is encouraging all community members to persuade family members and friends to undergo the free breast cancer medical examinations as, according to medical studies, 98 per cent of breast cancer cases detected early could be cured completely.
