Event at Al Remal Fort sees 50 emiratis tie the knot

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday attended a mass wedding for 50 Emiratis at Al Remal Fort.

The event, organised by the Marriage Fund and held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad, coincides with the sixth anniversary of Shaikh Mohammad's accession.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the Emirati couples and wished them a happy and stable life. He also received a memento from Dr Maitha Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and Chairwoman of the Fund, on the occasion of his accession, and took pictures with the bridegrooms.

In her opening speech, Al Shamsi extended her thanks for the financial help and counsel provided to the Fund by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Mohammad, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, Crown Princes, and other governmental departments. She stressed the important role, characterised by collaboration and support, played by the fund in assisting Emirati youth who are planning to marry and establish families.

A young bridegroom in the mass wedding also thanked Shaikh Khalifa for providing citizens with a dignified life.

He also thanked Shaikh Mohammad for sponsoring the event, and for his keen follow-up on the status of youth, as well as his financial and moral support for them.

Also present during the mass weddings were Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and other ministers and officials.
