Body plays pivotal roles in strengthening the economic ties between Sri Lanka and the UAE
The Sri Lanka Business Council UAE (SLBC-UAE) is a cornerstone of the Sri Lankan business community in the United Arab Emirates, committed to fostering trade, investment, and professional networking. Operating under the guidance of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the Council plays a pivotal role in strengthening the economic ties between Sri Lanka and the UAE, while also serving as a platform for Sri Lankan businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals to connect and thrive.
As we mark Sri Lanka’s National Day, SLBC-UAE takes this opportunity to reflect on its journey, celebrate its achievements, and recognize the contributions of those who have helped shape its success. This year, we proudly highlight two significant milestones: the empowerment of Sri Lankan women professionals through the Women’s Wing and the lifetime recognition of three esteemed members as Senior Eminent Advisors to the Board.
A key initiative of SLBC-UAE is the establishment of the Women’s Wing, a dedicated forum aimed at uplifting Sri Lankan women professionals and entrepreneurs in the UAE. Recognizing the vital role that women play in business and leadership, the Women’s Wing provides a platform for mentorship, networking, and professional development.
Through a series of targeted programs, including business networking events, leadership workshops, and mentorship opportunities, the Women’s Wing has created an environment where Sri Lankan women can excel in various industries, from finance and technology to healthcare and hospitality. This initiative is a testament to SLBC-UAE’s commitment to inclusivity and the advancement of Sri Lankan talent on a global stage.
In a historic move, SLBC-UAE is proud to confer lifetime recognition to three distinguished members as Senior Eminent Advisors to the Board:
· C. Chakradaran
· Farook Kassim
· Gamini Kannangara
These remarkable individuals have demonstrated decades of dedication, leadership, and service to the Sri Lankan business community in the UAE. Their invaluable contributions have been instrumental in shaping the Council’s initiatives, guiding business collaborations, and mentoring young entrepreneurs.
As Senior Eminent Advisors, they will continue to offer strategic insights, support key initiatives, and serve as mentors, ensuring that SLBC-UAE remains a driving force in fostering business opportunities and professional growth for Sri Lankans in the UAE. Their lifetime confirmation as Senior Eminent Advisors is a reflection of their unwavering commitment to the Council’s mission and their exceptional legacy of service.
Since its inception, SLBC-UAE has evolved into a vibrant business network, connecting Sri Lankan professionals and entrepreneurs with opportunities across the UAE. Through business forums, investment summits, and mentorship programs, the Council has strengthened the Sri Lanka-UAE economic partnership and fostered a spirit of collaboration among its members.
As we celebrate Sri Lanka’s National Day, SLBC-UAE reaffirms its dedication to empowering businesses, fostering innovation, and nurturing the next generation of Sri Lankan leaders. The introduction of the Women’s Wing and the recognition of three Senior Eminent Advisors mark new chapters in our journey, reinforcing our commitment to excellence, unity, and long-term growth.
We look forward to building on this legacy, creating more opportunities, and further strengthening the Sri Lankan presence in the UAE’s thriving business landscape.
