Reema Saffarini reports on the student projects displayed at the Dubai Men's College Open Day

From learning how to put a computer together, fly a plane and test the freshness of fish, the Dubai Men's College Open Day was an opportunity for visitors to view projects students have been working on during the academic year.

There were project displays from every department.

A day long sports programme had also been organised. The event included a live interview with Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on the HCT channel broadcast within the college.

Students set up a studio in the college where they aired a mock-up of Duha Dubai - a programme that was broadcast live last year during the Dubai Summers Surprises.

"We are very proud of our students and their achievements. They are a treasure for this country. They have proven through their work that this television channel can one day reach audiences world over," said Shaikh Nahyan.

The open day also included the Dubai Summer Surprises Awards with sponsors and students being acknowledged for their efforts during the event last year.

The sports department organised water games and five football matches.
