Nadiadwala’s movies featuring Dubai

Producer Feroz A Nadiadwala may have set up his base in Mumbai, but he consider Dubai as his first home. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he manages to squeeze in a bit of the UAE into many of his productions.

“Dubai is not just Disneyland. I call it Experienceland because you have the best of everything here,” said Nadiadwala. As his Welcome Back project gets ready to kick off its filming in Dubai next week, tabloid! gives you a round up of some of his films that had a UAE connection.

Welcome (2007):

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Katrina Kaif

Remember the scene in which mobster Maju, played by Anil Kapoor, accosts Dr Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal) to extort money from him? That scene was set in Dragon Mart.

The Grand Hyatt was also one of the locations to recreate a lavish party scene thrown by gangster Uday (Nana Patekar).

Fool N Final (2007)

Cast: Sunny Deol, Shahid Kapur, Viveik Oberoi, Ayesha Takia, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever and Sameera Reddy

A comedy that’s also a heist film, it revolves around a precious stolen diamond that all underworld dons and gangsters are fighting to own. Actor Arbaaz Khan played a don called Moscow Chikna, who operates out of Dubai.

Deewane Huye Paagal (2005)

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor and Suniel Shetty

Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the climax fight scenes of this romantic comedy were set in the Awafi desert in Ras Al Khaimah. Several key scenes which featured Shahid Kapur and Akshay Kumar were shot at a villa near Barsha.

Lahoo Ke Do Rang (1997)

Cast: Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor

Want to see how the UAE looked in the 1990s, YouTube the song Mujhe Paisa Mila featuring Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor. The two lovers look perfectly happy as they prance around Deira City Centre, Sharjah International Airport and Shaikh Zayed Road.
