The Guinness Book Of Records lists Stephen Taylor as having the longest tongue in the world, with a length of 9.2 cm from the tip of the tongue to the centre of his top lip.

Other than occasionally cleaning his ears or nose (eaoww) or reaching out to taste someone else's ice cream cone (eaoww, again), there is nothing that I can attribute as an advantage of having a tongue as long as a treadmill track. Except perhaps, to be a talk show host.

Now we all agree that talk show hosts make a living off their tongue. Remember Shekar Suman – the badshah of blah-blah – on his show Movers and Shakers? The show was the first of its kind in India, modelled on the popular Tonight Show With Jay Leno. It was a heady mix of cheesy humour, celeb chat-ups and a musical rubberband, all riding on Shekar's caustic tongue which was unanimously declared the star of the show.

And true to its celebrity status, the show soon found itself the object of threats from piqued groups threatening the wagging tongue for taking potshots at politics, famous people, etc.

Now the queen of television histrionics and all things vulgarly creepy – Rakhi Sawant – is all set to star in her own talk show called Rakhi Sawant Talk Show – creative title that one! And the news out there is that she has managed to rope in Aamir Khan as her official first guest. Now how did the intellectual and thoroughly professional Aamir sit through the mindless diatribe that we associate with Ms. Sawant has to be seen to be believed.

There's more than this tongue 'n' cheek aspect that seems to bind Sawant and Suman. Apart from singing for their own albums, which by the way, went down without a ripple, Suman, with his pout and open floral liliac shirts, has even openly admitted to having a mid-life crisis. A mid-life crisis may still be far away for Sawant but we shudder at the mere thought of what we will be subjected to if and when it happens!
