How has your beauty routine changed since your Spice Girl days?

I definitely make more time for it now than I did when I was younger. Being busy and on tour means you don’t get the time to cleanse and use a scrub. I like to keep my routine simple but thorough. And of course, I’ll be 40 in January so I make more of an effort.

Has your skin changed over the years?

How do you feel about getting older?

I’m not too worried but I have my days where I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’m going to be 40!’ I just make sure I look after my skin. I love going for facials but it doesn’t happen very often because I’ve got two children. I think it’s about making time for it.

What are your tips for staying baby faced?

I really believe in drinking lots of water. It’s important to keep your skin fresh and supple. I’m like everybody else – I try and remember to drink it when I can, but it’s something I have to make a real effort with. A good night’s sleep is very important to me too – not that I get much sleep any more. If I can get seven to eight hours, that’s brilliant. I don’t generally have very late nights now.

The boys have a good routine. They generally go to bed at 7-7.30pm, then I can kind of get myself ready and get to bed early.

What products can’t you live without?

I use a moisturiser with high SPF every day. I also love Palmer’s Cocoa Butter. I slather that all over my body and face. My whole family uses it. I love a good scrub too and Elemis does a brilliant rose one. Rodial also does some great serums and I use their night-time moisturisers.

Do you have any bad beauty habits?

I’m sure there’s been a few times I’ve left my make-up on and gone to bed after a late night, but now I try to make sure I take it off.

What do you eat to help look your best?

I love spinach and blueberries. We have lots of fruit at home. We all love sitting down and having meals together. We generally have the same thing and try to eat a balanced meal as much as we can. I’m quite lucky because my other half, Jade Jones, is now a chef and he does most of the cooking, which is nice.

Are there any foods you avoid?

No. I think the key is everything in moderation.

Have the contents of your make-up bag changed over the years?

It hasn’t at all, in fact. Mascara has always been in there. It’s very important – so as long as I’ve got that I’m quite happy! I’ve just changed to a great Bobbi Brown blusher, which is perfect for me and gives me a bit of colour in the morning. I tend to stick to certain products for a while but then I like to change it up. Eyebrows have become quite a big thing as well – Benefit does a great eyebrow pencil. It’s really important for me to have the basics that get me through the day.

Do you apply make-up before school runs?

In the mornings, my other half does the school run and then I pick them up in the afternoon. I do the Heart Breakfast show on the radio [London’s favourite breakfast radio show] so I try and make myself look half decent. I do everything in the car on the way to work. It’s a bit of a struggle! I don’t wear make-up every day though.

What’s your style?

What do you think is your biggest beauty failure?

Back in the Nineties – and I think everybody did it – it was the whole coloured eyeshadow to match what you were wearing. Disaster!

I hate it now when I look back. But luckily that trend came and went.

How are you planning to mark your 40th?

I’ve not made any big plans yet but I’m looking forward to organising something.

I love a party and I love organising them too!
