In photos: Children delight in snowfall at Expo 2020 Dubai's Christmas tree ceremony

Expo 2020 Dubai's 20-metre-high Christmas tree came to life on Saturday, December 18, in the presence of a special gathering. Snow fell and Santa Claus came out to inaugurate the festive season at Al Wasl Plaza.

Expo 2020 Dubai’s snowfall delighted visitors during the Christmas tree lighting that saw the dome adorned with festive projections.

The highest tree at the World Expo, rising from the site’s centre was initiated by none other than Santa Claus, accompanied by Expo 2020 mascots Rashid and Latifa in their holiday best.

Santa’s elves performed acrobatics next to the tree, while snowflakes, giant toys, baubles and reindeer bedecked the dome.

Santa took his seat as children joined him to share their wish lists and capture the moment on camera.

Christmas at Expo is set to be a site-wide affair. Eggnog, gingerbread and other holiday delights are up for snacking at the winter market circling the Water Feature, with parades retracing Expo's main avenues throughout the day.
