Dubai: The daughter of Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been released from a hospital in Beverly Hills after being treated for "stress and anxiety".

The only child of Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown, the 18-year-old was staying with her mother in the Beverly Hilton Hotel where the singer was discovered not breathing in the bathtub and ultimately pronounced dead.

According to a press release sent to ABC News, Bobbi Kristina was transported from the hotel at 10:26am on Sunday to the Cedars-Sinai Hospital and was "awake and alert" at the time. A family source told the broadcaster that she was being "treated for stress and anxiety."

Earlier, TMZ.com reported that the young Brown got into a shouting match with police officers outside her mother's fourth floor hotel room when they informed her no one was allowed in. The website said she "screamed, cursed and demanded to see her mother" before ultimately leaving.

But Bobbi Kristina was more than just close to her mother; she became her caretaker as the six-time Grammy winner struggled with addiction.

"Bobbi Kristina basically grew up her mother's caretaker, similar to Frances Bean," Ian Drew, senior editor of Us Weekly, told ABCNews.com, comparing her to the daughter of singers Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain. "In a way she was the adult in relationship."

Houston entered rehab last year. According to US Weekly, she and Brown, who is also an aspiring singer and actress, were working together on songs.

"She idolised Whitney," a source told the magazine, and "wanted to be just like her mother."
