Is Tom Cruise actually becoming hot again? That's the word coming out of Tinseltown.

With the newly released trailer for his upcoming Mission Impossible 4 clicking with audiences, industry insiders say Tom's working his way back to becoming Hollywood's number one action man once more.

And it's his latest project, One Shot, that's generating the hottest new buzz, as Hollywood's leading ladies are all battling it out to nab a role in the movie as a tough female lawyer who's also the daughter of a district attorney, alongside Cruise's ex-military homicide cop working on an apparent open-and-shut murder case.

And said to be the frontrunners are British former Bond girl, Rosamund Pike, Alexa Davalos and Captain America star, Hayley Atwell. So, who'll fill the lawyer's boots the best?

As the creator of the hit TV show, Glee, Ryan Murphy has won awards, accolades and acclaim. But does the 3D movie version's recent flop at the box office - making just Dh9.7 million in its opening weekend - mean that the show has lost his shine for former Gleeks?

Certainly the movie's failure to make an impact with audiences has left studio bigwigs astounded, with one insisting, "The CinemaScores were excellent. They don't sync up with the [box office] results." Whilst another exec slammed, "I think it was a ****** campaign that did not communicate what the movie was!"

But whilst US critic Nikki Finke has wondered if, "maybe Glee is just over-exposed right now and not as cool as it was initially," Murphy still insists he is "proud" of the film.

Hayley Atwell
Age:
29

This Brit actress has popped up in the likes of Cassandra's Dream and The Duchess, but really put herself on the map as the feisty and fearless Peggy Carter in Captain America.

Rumours have abounded for years that the hit TV show will return, but now whispers have emerged that Ron Howard is set to helm a movie about the Bluth family, with the plot revolving around the Bluths setting out to make their own competing movie to Howard's, after the director refuses to let Dr Tobias play himself.

Rosamund Pike
Age:
32

She's played kickass in Die Another Day, ditzy in An Education and wistful in Pride & Prejudice, so we think it's time the British beauty sank her teeth into a tough-gal role.

Alexa Davalos
Age:
29

Still a relative newcomer, Alexa wowed as the headstrong Andromeda in Clash of the Titans, and a new face would be the perfect foil for Tom's instant recognisability.
