Shahid Kapur's love life and professional life share the same venue - films

Shahid Kapur has it good. How else would you explain a star who has no hits, but is still in the news? Ask Kapur. Better still, ask Kareena. The twosome have been the subject of every paparazzi photographer in India ever since they started seeing each other.

Kareena attracted attention because she was a Kapoor girl while Shahid attracted attention because he was Kapoor?s boyfriend.

Don?t get us wrong. Kapur is a likeable sort and heaven knows he has his fan clubs, but how long before the bubble bursts and reality becomes a dream?

Maybe, 36 China Town, his current release with Kapoor, might just work. It better.

Excerpts from an interview.

e+: 36 China Town with Kareena is again an action thriller like Fida. Why are you both choosing the same genre to act in together?
Shahid Kapur: We don't choose the films we play leads in. If a director feels a particular script demands us as leads, they choose us. 36 China Town being a thriller and starring Kareena and me are just coincidences.

Why was Fida not well-received?
It was not about pairing. People found it difficult to accept the climax of the film. Personally, I loved it. But Today I want to do roles that people want to see me in. That does not mean I am not ready to accept unconventional roles.

Is it distracting to work with Kapoor?
Thank God we are working together! At least, we get time to be with one another. With our hectic schedules, it is so difficult to take out some quality time.
