The countdown is on for Indian superstar Salman Khan’s homicide trial to begin, but the actor’s brother, Sohail Khan, is taking a pragmatic approach.

“Trials keep coming, it’s been happening for the past 17 years,” Sohail told tabloid! yesterday. “So it’s not really affecting us.”

One man was killed and four people were injured when Salman drove his car into a group of homeless people sleeping on a sidewalk in September 2002. A Mumbai court recently charged Khan with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and if convicted, he could face up to 10 years in jail. The trial is scheduled to begin August 19.

A star in his own right, Sohail, was in town to film a commercial for Dubai real estate developer Pacific Ventures, also starring Dubai-based Indian TV personality Uma Ghosh Deshpande. The actor and director’s much-awaited next film Mental, starring Salman, is scheduled to release early next year.
