Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, who was in Dubai on Sunday to pick the winner of Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group’s DSF promotions, believes that the precious yellow metal is a sound investment option.

“My father has always advised me: buy land and gold,” said Khan, daughter of the late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan and actress Sharmila Tagore.

“We belong to a traditional family who have always invested in gold and we have never been let down by it. But it’s always good to have some diversification in your investment portfolio,” said Khan, an alumnus of London School of Economics and Political Science.

Before dabbling in films, actor Saif Ali Khan’s sister worked with Citibank and Ford Foundation. She put her degree on hold to pursue Bollywood dreams and has featured in hits including Rang De Basanti and Dil Maange More.

“I have never regretted that decision. Films excite me,” said Khan, who has fond memories of Dubai.

“I was 11 years old when I visited Dubai and I remember watching Cliffhanger in one of the movie halls there,” said Khan, who is a part of the Bollywood contingent who have been invited to pick raffle draw winners every Sunday this DSF.

Thousands purchased raffle tickets this year to try their hand at winning gold.

“I feel very responsible to be given the duty of picking a winner. There will be disappointed people inevitably, but somebody is going to be over the moon. I hope somebody deserving wins,” said Khan.

This Sunday, picking the winner will be actress Mughda Godse. She will pick the winner at Dubai Gold Souk at 9pm. For details, visit: http://www.dubaicityofgold.com/dsf.htm.
