Serious fun: Lara's craft

Isn't the movie storyline about one guy conning three women at the same time slightly far-fetched.

Not really. When you live in a city like Mumbai, you hear about these sort of things all the time. But Akshay's predicament in the film is quite unique; he is not a con artist, but a victim of circumstance.

Once you see the film, you'll understand how everybody sort of fits in. Sajid (director) spent close to three years working on its screenplay and is quite confident about it.

Is it true that he gave you a note saying ‘welcome to the biggest hit of your career'?

That's right. He gave that note to everybody in the movie. That said, he has always maintained that Housefull may not get the kind of respect that 3 Idiots got, but it would be as entertaining.'

Akshay says you aren't very friendly. Is that true?

I don't think he said I wasn't friendly, he said I'm serious at work. Doing comedy is a serious business. I like to be serious while I am working. If everyone was a crackpot on the sets then it would be a disaster.

What's the craziest thing you've done in the movie?

Oh many. We crawled on our hands and knees in front of a fully-grown tiger; fell out of the windows from second storey buildings. Sajid put me in some ridiculous situations. I don't know how many women would be willing to do the things I did.

You are seen around with tennis player Mahesh Bhupati these days. What's up?

At present all I can tell you is yes, I'm not single. I'm not being secretive about my personal life, but please allow me to protect this part of my life and enjoy my own space right now. I just do not wish to talk about this right now.

You drew a lot of flak when the war of words broke out between your ex-boyfriends Dino Morea and Kelly Dorjeeo

Even then, I had preferred to maintain a dignified silence. I don't dwell on the past, let bygones be bygones.
