Dubai: South Indian actor Asif Ali is on a roll. After impressing up with his emotionally-charged performance in suspense drama 'Kishkinda Kaandam', the actor has delivered yet another hit with the compelling murder mystery 'Rekhachithram'.

According to Phars Films, who have locally distributed the movie in this region and other Gulf countries, 'Rekhachithram' has seen 181, 310 admissions since the last 13 days of its release. The movie has also collected $1,803,266 (approx Dh6,618,000) in the UAE and other GCC territories.

Directed by Jofin T. Chacko, Rekhachithram, is the tale of cop (Asif Ali) investigating a murder that happened years ago in a small town.

The movie has also done well in India. According to reports, the movie has amassed Dh 21.69 million globally in just 14 days.

Met with mostly good reviews, the movie also stars Anaswara Rajan who plays an actor hopeful. Seasoned actor Manoj K. Jayan, and Zarin Shihab also play pivotal roles. Despite an uneven pace, the movie works largely due to the collective acting prowess of the ensemble cast. The twists and turns of this whydunit is also intriguing.

In an earlier interview with Gulf News, Asif had spoken about how he's eager to do roles in meaningful Malayalam films.
