Dubai: Maine Mendoza of the popular AlDub tandem won Favourite Pinoy Personality in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Monday.

Mendoza, who rose to fame as Yaya Dub in TV show Eat Bulaga’s kalyeserye (live street show) segment, beat Enrique Gil, James Reid of the Jadine love tandem, and Kathryn Bernardo to the orange blimp. Read full list of winners

It seems that Mendoza’s on-screen partner in the kalyeserye, Alden Richards, was spot on when he told tabloid! in an interview in Dubai last week that he “already knows” Mendoza will win the award.

“She will win because she is the most talked about artist in the Philippines and also around the world because of AlDub,” Richards said.

“She deserves it. She is a good person,” the actor said when he arrived in Dubai ahead of a concert on March 10. Read interview with Richards

The actor also shared that it was one of Mendoza’s dreams “to be slimed at the Nickelodeon awards”.

Unfortunately, fans did not get to see Mendoza get slimed as the actress was away for vacation.

Instead, Mendoza posted on Facebook a photo of her herself blowing a kiss to the camera. She wrote: “I would really love to hold this Orange Blimp right now, but since I’m away for vacation, maybe this will do, for now. Cool ‘no? (Isn’t it cool?) I love you all.”
