Dubai: With L2: Empuraan now out in UAE cinemas, one of the film’s biggest mysteries has finally been confirmed — South Korean-American actor Rick Yune plays the main villain in the much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and starring Mohanlal.

The director officially confirmed Yune’s casting, putting an end to months of fan theories sparked by a teaser poster showing the back of a man in a white karategi with a red dragon.

From Mammootty and Fahadh Faasil to Don Lee and Charles Dance, fans threw every name into the mix — but the guessing game is now over.

Yune, known for his roles in Die Another Day, The Fast and the Furious, Olympus Has Fallen, and Ninja Assassin, makes his Indian cinema debut with L2: Empuraan — and his entry adds serious international flair to the action-packed thriller.

The casting news was first hinted at when UK-based talent agency Internations Artists Management briefly posted (and later deleted) an Instagram update revealing that both Rick Yune and Killing Eve’s Andrea Tivadar have starring roles in Empuraan. The information still appears on the agency’s official website.

Just days ago, Prithviraj also confirmed that Pranav Mohanlal, son of veteran actor Mohanlal, will play Stephen Nedumpally — the younger version of his father’s iconic character — in the franchise’s third installment.

With the film already creating waves at the box office, L2: Empuraan is shaping up to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

Now playing in UAE cinemas.
