Jabba the Hutt is over three metres long and possesses a disgusting vocabulary
The full name of this character is Jabba Desilijic Tiure, and "it" (as Jabba is neither male nor female) first appeared in the Star Wars saga in Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.
Jabba is a being of the Hutt species, born in Nal Hutta. This enormous worm of more than three metres long possesses a disgusting vocabulary and even worse manners. Jabba is at the head of a criminal empire spread throughout the galaxy.
This gigantic, worm-like villain was originally created using an immense latex puppet, but in the latest trilogy, CGI was used to create the foul creature.
Jabba, a Hutt around 600 years old, would hire bounty hunters, smugglers, assassins and bodyguards to operate the criminal empire. During the years of Senator Palpatine's rise to power, this Hutt was one of several gangsters who worked hard to gain market dominance. Some of the Hutt's competitors included Sise Fromm and Prince Xizor, from the Black Sun criminal empire.
Far from living a secretive lifestyle, Jabba lived life to the full, indulging in parties and all kinds of entertainment. Jabba's palace is located in the desert of Tatooine, in an ancient monastery where a band of mystic musicians (known as the B'omarr Monks) entertain visitors.
Jabba is a source of many problems to the hapless smuggler Han Solo, and is famously the one who put a price on Solo's head. Because of an error on board Solo's ship, the Millennium Falcon, Jabba's contraband is ruined, causing great financial losses. Jabba later decides to forgive Solo, but forces Solo to compensate for the losses. When Solo doesn't pay on time, he is captured and so began many of the adventures that appear in Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.
