Camp Rock
Cast: The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Meaghan Jette Martin, Alyson Stoner
This Disney Channel tween musical was seen by almost 9 million people when it premiered in June. For those who couldn't get to see the movie, this DVD is worth the money as it is packed with extra features.
Fans of the Jonas Brothers or newcomer Demi Lovato (the next Miley Cyrus?) wouldn't want to miss this one. However, please remember that this is no High School Musical.
Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), keen on honing her musical talent, is desperate to attend the upcoming Camp Rock. Fortunately, her mother Connie gets the catering contract for the camp and manages to get Mitchie enrolled for the workshop.
But how can Mitchie fit in and become popular if the others in the batch, all kids of high fliers, discover that she is the daughter of a cook? She's got to hide her identity.
Meanwhile, the star of the camp, instructor Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) of Connect 3 happens to hear someone singing a song that catches his fancy, but the singer eludes him.
Bonus features include How to be a Rock Star. Aspiring crooners are told about the right look, style and the 'it' factor. How do you stand out? Well, know the trends, wear crazy stuff. Some fashion tips: Always keep your shoes clean and wear sunglasses (the Jonas brothers are always in shades) – glasses make you look like somebody! Besides, you've got to dance like a rock star, cultivate a stage presence, network (go for auditions, let your voice be heard), take lessons, practice ...
In Jonas Brothers: Real Life Rock Stars, Nick, Kevin and Joe tell us about themselves, shopping, life on the road, their dreams, staying humble and being good role models.

This is a heart rending tale of a 17-year-old Bangladeshi village lass who is forced to marry an older man working in Britain.
The movie, based on a novel by Monica Ali, begins with Nazneen (Tannishta Chatterjee) thinking about her childhood. "I remember the songs we used to sing, my sister and I." She also remembers saying she would never go beyond the paddy fields when she got married.
But then her mother died and her father chose an educated groom living abroad. She recalls her mother's words: what cannot be changed must be endured. So here she is now, living in a East London tenement with her jowly hubby Chanu and daughters Shahana and Bibi. Twenty years have passed since she left her home town and she's still pining to go back, still longing to see her sister with whom she's in touch via snail mail. But Chanu (Satish Kaushik) has always turned down pleas for returning to Bangladesh. Things change when he doesn't get the promotion he's been expecting. And then there's 9/11 after which Muslims are seen in a different light.
Nazneen is also changing. She's become very close to a young radical Karim (Christopher Simpson) and, when Chanu finally decides to return to Dhaka, she opts to stay in London with her daughters.
Yes the test of life is to endure, but there comes a time when one must break free.
