What’s the Red Sea International Film Festival all about?: Saudi Arabia’s RSIFF, in its third edition this year, is a glorious celebration of cinema from around the world and is a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to showcase their compelling stories and narratives. Opening tonight in Jeddah and concluding on December 9, the ten-day RSIFF is a relatively fledgling film festival but never fails to attract a galaxy of global superstars to its fold. This festival is an indicator of Saudi Arabia’s robust imitative to make it the cultural and film hub of the Arab region.

What does the jury for competitive films look like?: Celebrated director Baz Luhrmann is the president of the the jury for the main feature film competition. He will be joined by ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ breakout star Frieda Pinto and Suicide Squad actor Joel Kinnaman and others.

Who are the stars attending this year’s edition? The list is long and illustrious. Hollywood heavyweights including Diane Kruger (‘Helen Of Troy’), Halle Berry, are among those expected to attend. What’s the opening film at this year’s RSIFF? HWJN, based on a Saudi fantasy novel by Ibraheem Abbas, will enjoy a red-carpet gala premiere tonight. This film is set in a world where a djinn is invisibly living among humans. Starring Baraa Alem in the titular role, this film based in Jeddah will be high on adventure, romance, imagination, and creativity.
