Depp apologises for ‘assassinating’ Trump comment

Johnny Depp apologised for joking about assassinating Donald Trump during an appearance at Glastonbury Festival in Britain.

The 54-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star said: “I apologise for the bad joke I attempted...in poor taste about President Trump. It did not come out as intended, and I intended no malice. I was only trying to amuse, not to harm anyone.”

The actor had addressed the crowd the festival where he posed the question: “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” in reference to the death of Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth in 1865.

He added: “I want to clarify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it has been awhile and maybe it is time.”
