Beyonce, Madonna songwriter robbed in Hollywood

Los Angeles police say about $50,000 (Dh183,000) in gold and cash has been stolen from the Hollywood Hills home of a Grammy-winning songwriter and producer who has worked with Beyonce and other well-known performers.

Toby Gad tells KABC-TV that his wife discovered on Monday that a safe in the home had been broken into.

He says the neighbourhood has seen a string of recent burglaries.

Investigators say gold coins, cash and other undisclosed items were taken from the house, which is being renovated.

Police have not named a suspect.
