The veteran actor was in no mood to entertain personal questions about his married life
Dubai: Bollywood veteran Govinda recently chose to deflect questions regarding ongoing speculation about his alleged impending divorce with Sunita Ahuja.
Since yesterday, reports have been circulating that the couple, who have been together for 37 years, may be heading for a split. However, when asked about these claims in an interview with Times of India, the actor shifted the focus to his professional commitments. He deflected the question.
"There are only business talks going on… I am in the process of starting my films," the 61-year-old said. He was intent on steering the conversation away from his personal life.
According to reports, Ahuja had reportedly sent a 'separation notice' to Govinda a few months ago, but no further developments have been confirmed. His manager acknowledged that tensions had arisen due to certain public statements made by family members. However, he emphasised that the couple was working through their issues.
"There have been some misunderstandings due to comments made in the media. But Govinda is focused on his work, and we are in the process of resolving things," Sinha told media outlets in India.
Meanwhile, Sunita Ahuja has remained tight-lipped about the divorce rumors. However, in a separate interview with Pink Villa, she candidly spoke about her dissatisfaction with their marriage, expressing regret over Govinda's absence in their personal life.
"I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He never takes vacations. I want to go out with my husband and enjoy street food, but that never happens," she remarked.
She also reflected on his work-centric lifestyle, adding, "He has always been too busy. I don’t recall a single instance where we went out to watch a movie together."
Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in March 1987. They have two children—daughter Tina and son Yashvardhan.
