Celebrating Ireland with song and dance in Dubai

Event marking Irish independence will see play staged as well as dance shows performed

Celebrate 100 years since the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin, Ireland, through dance, song, theatre and poetry in April in Dubai.

On April 22 and 23, a play called The Shadow of a Gunman by playwright Sean O’Casey, will dwell on the historic events that led to Ireland’s independence.

The 90-minute play is directed and produced by Padraig Downey from Danu Dubai Theatre Group and Declan O’Sullivan and will feature artist Paddyman, plus a host of Irish dancers, musicians, singers, actors and poets from Ireland, the UAE, the UK, the Middle East, Europe and North America. The second chapter will include a song, dance, poetry performance.

The play and poetry/dance will be at 2.30pm and 7.30pm at Madinat Theatre, Souq Madinat Jumeirah on April 22 and 23. Tickets prices start at Dh100. For details, contact 04 3666546 or log on to madinatjumeirah.etixdubai.com.
