Blockbuster musical Sweeney Todd heads to Dubai Opera

Dubai: Stephen Sondheim’s critically acclaimed musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is set to take the stage at Dubai Opera from February 1 to 8, 2025.

Presented by Victorian Opera, this production promises an unforgettable theatrical experience with its haunting score, gripping narrative, and dark humor.

Set in 19th-century London, Sweeney Todd follows a wronged barber seeking revenge after years of wrongful imprisonment. Returning to Fleet Street, he partners with Mrs. Lovett, whose struggling pie shop finds an unusual secret ingredient—his victims.

The chilling tale of vengeance and ambition unfolds through Sondheim’s powerful music and razor-sharp wit.

Directed by Victorian Opera’s Artistic Director Stuart Maunder AM, the production aims to deliver a thought-provoking experience.
