Mohammad's poems published in German

Dubai: An anthology of selected poems written by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has been published in German by the Munich-based German publishing house Carl H. Verlag.

The poems were published at the initiative of well-known German poet and chairman of the Berlin Literary Festivals Joachim Sartorius as part of publishing a series of poems from around the world.

Two prominent German orientalists well-versed in Arabic language and literature handled the translations of poetry into German. Literary and media circles in Germany have expressed profound interest in Shaikh Mohammad's poetry.

A collection of verses by Shaikh Mohammad was published earlier in English under the title Poems From the Desert. "Shaikh Mohammad reveals his passions but tempers them with justice and tolerance. Writing is an act of courage. But it's worth taking the risk and His Highness' poems help us to understand better the soul of a man and the heritage of a nation," said renowned author Paulo Coelho.
