Exhibition provides rare glimpse of past

Al Ain:The 4,500-year-old Hili Grand Tomb forms the centrepiece of an exhibition that gives glimpses of the 14 years of archaeological findings in Abu Dhabi.

Called "The Dawn of History: Revealing the Ancient Past of Abu Dhabi", the exhibition opened on Wednesday after Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, inaugurated the event at the historic Jahili Fort.

Running until May 2, the exhibition showcases the important archaeological work conducted by Danish experts between 1958 and 1972. The event has been organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) and the Moesgard Museum in Denmark with the support of the Shaikha Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation in Abu Dhabi.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the ADACH, Mohammad Khalaf Al Mazroui, Adviser on Culture and Heritage at the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Director General of the ADACH, Dr Sami Al Masri, Deputy Director General of Arts, Culture, and Heritage and Director of Strategic Planning and Development at the ADACH, along with a number of dignitaries. The exhibition is divided in 14 sections which tell the story of how the area's archaeological findinds in the past was discovered by a team from Denmark's Moesgard Museum.

Event details

• The exhibition is open daily from 9am to 5pm, Friday from 3.30pm-5.30pm

• Guided tours daily from 9.30am- 4.30pm, except for Fridays from 3.30pm-5.30pm

• Exhibition is closed on Mondays.
