2006 ... A celeb-riffic year

It's been a crazy year in celebritydom. Makeups, breakups, fights, red-carpet blunders, scandals ... the year has been an eventful one for celebs. And as it comes to an end, it seems apt to start thinking about the most glitterati-laden moments of 2006.

Who was the biggest turkey of 2006? K-Fed, perhaps? Who had the most memorable mishap? Who most defied the "till death do us part" bit? Who's had the most oops? (If you said Paris Hilton, we wouldn't blame you). The most red-faced moments of the year? We've got all the salacious buzz you could ever have wanted.

1. Britney Spears
   Two kids and a husband later, Butterfly Britney is single again and partying it up with new best friend Paris Hilton. 2006 has definitely put her back on the map.
   
   What with driving around with her son on her lap, marrying and divorcing no-good loser K-Fed and making a big show of her newly singly self (more show that we'd even hoped for, if you recall the flasher moments), Britters is definitely the most talked about celeb this year.
   
2. Brangelina
   They almost got married many times, Brad adopted Angelina's two kids and they went on to have a baby of their own - not to mention all the ruckus they created in Africa and India! Yep, nary a day went by this year without tabloids featuring the latest that Brangelina have been up to.
   
3. Paris Hilton
   Now she's had more oops this year than any other celeb, most notably the incidents with Britney. What else has she been up to? She broke up then made up with Nicole Richie, broke up and made up with Lindsay Lohan, broke up and made up with Stavros Niarchos , released a CD, starred in disastrous movies and of course, made best buds with Britney Spears.
   
4. Whitney Houston
   Now here's a true Hollywood story. Glam diva, style star who turned to drugs, had an abusive marriage and finally, this year, ditched the wife-beater, dropped the drugs and is on her way to making a star comeback.
   
5. TomKat
   Their marriage had to be the biggest celebrity event of the year. The only other thing to have come close was the birth of their baby Suri. And Tom, with his couch-jumping, Scientology ways, somehow saw to it that the couple never stayed out of the limelight.

1. Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn
   America's sweetheart has had her heart broken once again. Now that she's worked her way through both the Mr and Mrs Smith male leads, let's hope the next time she finds herself a real, deserving man.
   
2. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe
   After 7 years and 2 kids, the couple called it quits in September. Word is, Ryan was cheating on Reese.
   
3. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock
   We've lost track of how many times these two have been married and divorced. After a sudden marriage this year, the couple had an even more sudden divorce just a few month later. That's Hollywood for you!
   
4. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey
   She left. He wrote songs about heartbreak. But the way it stands, Nick's in a steady new relationship, while poor Jess is still on the hunt.

   After a super-sudden break-up with husband Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards went on to date her newly-divorced best friend Heather Locklear's ex, Richie Sambora.

   This one's got to be the messiest divorce of the year. With each side pointing fingers at the other, Macca and Heather's newfound hatred should be enough to scare off all prospective couples.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles. Despite rocking careers, the couple are just as devoted as ever, and with marriage soon on the cards, they've never looked happier or been loved more by their fans.

Most over-rated couple of the year
Although TomKat come a close second, this year's winner has got to be Brangelina. The Beckhams, to their utter dismay, barely even made it to the list of possible nominees.
