Dubai: As expected, Samsung has brought in more AI features into its newest Fold and Flip smartphones – but has also created a lower entry price point for the Flip version to target first-time and even younger buyers.

Pre-orders start July 9.

With these launches, the South Korean tech giant Samsung has a full line up of its flagship models, starting with the Galaxy S25, the ultra-thin S25 Edge and now the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7.

As the entry level Flip7 FE, Samsung has created a 128GB model with a price tag of Dh3,499. The highest price point in the Flip7 range is Dh4,799.

Build more AI advantage over iPhone

“With Galaxy Z Flip7, we’ve introduced a more accessible price point to welcome younger users, first-time foldable adopters, and fashion-forward tech lovers,” said Fadi Abu Shamat, VP and Head of Mobile eXperience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics.

Fashion tips from Gemini Live?

The mention of 'fashion-forward' is no throwaway line - with camera sharing on 'Gemini Live', 'getting real-time help is as easy as pointing the camera', says Samsung.

"Whether packing for a trip or choosing an outfit, users can simply show Gemini what they’are looking at."

All that the phone user needs to ask is something like, 'Which of these outfits is better for the weather in Seoul?'.

"Gemini will respond, just like a helpful friend would..." the Samsung product profile adds helpfully.

Galaxy Z Fold7

For the Fold7, the pricing is from Dh7,599 to Dh9,349.

“The Galaxy Z Fold7 represents our most powerful foldable yet, featuring a flagship-level camera, the fastest and most efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, and chip-level up AI integration,” said Shamat. “The pricing reflects these meaningful upgrades.”

Samsung now has a full line-up of its super-premium range to try and win over more switchers and upgraders.

Weighing 215 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is ‘even lighter’ than Galaxy S25 Ultra. The handset is 8.9mm thick when folded and 4.2mm thick when unfolded.

Amidst all that slimness, the Fold7 still manages to pack in an 8-inch main display screen – and one that’s  11% larger than the previous gen.

The model also features Samsung’s latest AI-powered platform on foldables. The Gemini Live is ‘enhanced with multimodal AI that understands what users see, say and do - making it possible to seamlessly type or speak contextual questions and get answers’.

Get ahead of the pack – especially on the iPhone

Samsung’s aim with these back-to-back launches is clear enough – pack in enough AI features into its handsets and gain some vital time before Apple comes with the iPhone 17. (There has been much speculation about what the iPhone 17 can offer more, but not enough to dispel doubts about whether Apple has got the hang of AI yet.)

The tactic seems to be working, with multiple tech retailers saying that Samsung handsets – especially in the premium range - have been gaining traction in H1-2025. “The new Fold7 is a major improvement on its predecessor with a super-slim form and lighter weight,” said Rajat Asthana, CEO of Eros Group.

There’s also the expanded top screen with a supercharged processor and a high spec camera. There was pressure on Samsung from the likes of Huawei and Honor who came with slimmer and lighter versions of their fold handsets. With the Fold7, Samsung is aiming to be the best foldable device in the market.”

‘Slim’ is in with smartphones

On the form side, slimness is what’s trending with consumers of pricey smartphones. Samsung showed off its capabilities with the S25 Edge, and recreating that into the latest launches
