Sharjah: Sharjah Airport welcomed more than 9.1 million passengers during the first half of 2025, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

From January to June, 9,110,397 travellers passed through the airport, up from 8,313,811 in 2024.

Aircraft movements also saw growth, reaching 54,953 — a 4.3% rise from 52,695 flights in the first half of last year. Meanwhile, cargo operations climbed by 6.36%, with 102,427 tonnes handled — a new record for the airport.

These numbers highlight Sharjah Airport’s ability to keep up with growing demand for both travel and cargo services, thanks to its flexible operations and strong infrastructure.

Building on Sharjah’s vision

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority, said the rise in passenger numbers reflects the airport’s ongoing investments and close cooperation with key partners. “Our aim is to position Sharjah Airport among the top five in the region,” he said, “while continuing to offer modern services and a safe, smooth travel experience for all.”

Al Midfa also shared that the airport is on track to handle up to 25 million passengers a year by the end of 2027, thanks to major expansion plans already underway.

He added, “Sharjah Airport is fully aligned with the Emirate’s broader goals — to make Sharjah a top destination for tourism, business, and investment. We’re committed to development plans that focus on smart technologies, sustainability, and upgrading our infrastructure. All of this builds trust among passengers, airlines, and cargo partners while contributing to the UAE’s growth as a whole.”

Focused on seamless travel

Behind the rising numbers is a long-term plan to deliver smoother journeys, more destination options, and high-quality service. Sharjah Airport is steadily growing its regional and international connections by partnering with a wide range of airlines.

This growing network strengthens the airport’s role as a vital hub between continents — offering flexible travel choices for both business and leisure travellers. The focus remains on keeping operations smooth, upgrading facilities, and ensuring passengers enjoy an easy, efficient airport experience every time.
