UAE Tourism Council holds first meeting in Dubai

Entity will be an umbrella for all activities

Dubai: Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammad Al Owais, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of the National Council of Tourism and Antiquities (NCTA) presided over the first meeting of the board of directors of the NCTA in Dubai recently.

Al Owais said that the first meeting of the Council is a historic one, because it laid the foundation for a federal entity and it will be an overall umbrella that covers all the activities and events related to tourism and antiquities in the country and abroad.

He also stressed the council's ability to contribute effectively during the next stage in promoting the tourism sector, which plays an important role in the economic income of the UAE.

The NCTA board of directors also reviewed the budget for 2010 which has been approved by the Ministry of Finance.
