Dubai: An Emirates aircraft en route from Kuwait to Dubai had to abort take-off yesterday after the captain noticed smoke coming out of the passenger cabin.

A spokesperson said the captain of flight EK856 aborted take-off after seeing the smoke when the aircraft was taxiing on the runway. The spokesman said the smoke might have come from the engine, but investigations are still under way to find the reason.

All the passengers were uninjured, except one who suffered minor injuries when he fell down because he left his seat too early. He was taken to a hospital in Kuwait.

A substitute aircraft was sent to collect passengers.
