Marriott International has opened its latest property, the Courtyard Dubai Green Community.

The 165-room business hotel is located in the heart of new developments in Jebel Ali.

The hotel is part of Dubai Investment's Green Community, which is an oasis in the erstwhile desertland surrounding the facility.

Courtyard is Marriott's four-star upscale brand designed for business travellers.

"With the opening of the Courtyard Dubai Green Community, Dubai and Hong Kong become the two cities outside the United States where all the Marriott brands are represented," said June M. Farrell, Marriott International's vice-president for international public relations.

Marriott International's major brands represented in Dubai include J.W. Marriott, the Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance Hotel, Mariott Executive Apartments and Courtyard.

Located 40 kilometres from downtown Dubai, Courtyard has 165 guest-rooms including 81 king size, 74 double, four junior suites and six executive suites.

All rooms are equipped with broadband connectivity, enabling guests quick and efficient communication.

It also has a large ballroom with a capacity of 500 people.

The hotel will soon be expanded with the addition of a serviced apartment complex which also has a shopping complex.

Samir Daqaq, Marriott's vice-president for global sales, said the hotel has been carefully chosen by Marriott keeping future prospects in mind.

"With all the developments coming up around Jebel Ali, we will have no difficulty in filling us the rooms.

"In fact, this will be one of the most sought after hotels in Dubai as we are the only hotel to serve clients in Jebel Ali."

While surrounded by desert at present, the place is set become one of the busiest areas in Dubai. Besides the Dubai Investment Park, Jebel Ali Free Zone, the locality will soon be abuzz with the construction of the new Logistics City and Jebel Ali Airport, Techno Park, Dubai Sports City, Dubailand as well as eight industrial clusters planned by the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority.

When the new airport and Logistics City complex come up in Jebel Ali, the Courtyard will be the only hotel catering to business visitors in the neighbourhood.

Marriott operates 2,600 hotels globally, comprising 50,000 rooms in 66 countries. Of these, 27 are located in the Middle East.

"In the Middle East, six new properties are currently under development that will be managed by Marriott," Farrell said.
