From spontaneous adventures to smart booking, UAE TikTokers share insider tips
Dubai: The Eid Al Adha holidays are here, and many in the UAE have already set out on their big escape. But how do the pros do it?
Gulf News caught up with three of the UAE's most popular travel TikTokers – Ibn Hatutta, Ramy Hamdan, and Taher – to get the inside scoop on their Eid plans and best advice for navigating peak travel seasons.
Their approaches vary from spontaneous exploration to strategic planning, offering something for every type of traveller.
The spontaneous explorer: Ibn Hatutta (@ibnhattuta) - 1.6 million followers
If you follow Ibn Hatutta, you know planning isn't his style. "I haven’t planned anything; I don’t like planning; I like to just go with the flow!" he said. For Eid, he's currently enjoying Japan and intends to stay put. "I’ll probably enjoy hiking in Mt Fuji, eating lots of Japanese food, and exploring Japan without planning as usual."
For peak seasons, his strategy is simple: avoid the crowds. “I usually try to take a break when a big holiday is coming. Holidays mean that most destinations are gonna be fully packed. Or I sometimes choose destinations that no one else is going to, making sure that I won’t be in the busy destinations,” he said.
Top tip for followers:
"Book their tickets way in advance; otherwise, they will get too expensive. Also, make a draft plan with some must-dos that you book in advance, leaving enough space in the trip for a spontaneous adventure. Balance is key."
The content strategist: Ramy Hamdan (@ramyhamdann)
Ramy Hamdan lives and breathes travel, making it his career. While keeping his exact Eid destination under wraps for now, he promises "action-packed content" on his social media channels. He continues his popular series of distributing phones to followers worldwide.
Planning for peak seasons like Eid is a "whole strategy" for Ramy. He balances trending spots with "hidden gems" and plans well in advance to beat price hikes, though he always leaves room for spontaneity where "the real magic happens." He also actively involves his audience, asking them where they want him to go next.
Top tip for followers:
His advice for navigating busy airports and finding deals is golden: "Prep is power." He recommends online check-in, travelling light with a carry-on, and using fast-track services. For deals, he suggests flying mid-week or at odd hours, exploring regional airports, and, above all, being flexible. "The more open you are with dates and destinations, the more likely you are to find something epic and affordable."
He added, “I always tell my audience: flexibility is your best friend. The more open you are with dates and destinations, the more likely you find something epic and affordable.”
The adventure seeker: Taher (@tahertravels)
For Taher, it's all about adventure and nature. "I’m generally into adventures and nature more than anything else," he says. This Eid, he's continuing his European adventure, "exploring and living the good vibes and, of course, sharing my experience with my followers."
Taher's approach is direct regarding peak season travel: "I book my flights early enough. Sometimes, I go there earlier and stay there till the holiday."
Top tips for followers:
His three crucial tips for followers looking to escape the Eid rush are: "Book your tickets early. Book your stay a bit far from the tourist places. And last, don’t go to the busy famous destinations; try somewhere new every time."
So, whether you're a meticulous planner or a spontaneous adventurer, these insights from the UAE's top travel TikTokers offer invaluable guidance for making your Eid holidays memorable.
