Dubai: Serco Group (Serco), an international services company, announced on Tuesday that it has signed a new contract with Nakheel to continue operating and maintaining the Palm Jumeirah Monorail System in Dubai. The contract will see Serco providing its services for another five years.

The company started operating and maintaining the Palm Jumeirah Monorail on 6 August 2010.

"We are delighted to now extend the partnership with Nakheel,” said David Greer, CEO of Serco Middle East.

The transportation link extends 5.3 kilometres from Gateway Towers to Atlantis Aquaventure, which is located on the crescent of the island.

It will also be linked to some important developments in the area, including the Nakheel Mall and The Pointe.

The property developer selected Serco due to its performance since 2010, in addition to its experience in managing a number of metro and rail systems in the Middle East and across Europe.
