Dubai: Dell has updated its Alienware notebooks with refreshed Alienware 18, a real gaming machine for professional gamers.

The beast is powered by fourth-generation Intel i7 processor with 32GB of RAM and 1.5TB Raid 0 hard drive (2 x 750GB) and 64GB SSD. It runs on Windows 8 Pro.

The real performance comes from the dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M SLI graphics card with an option to change it to Nvidia GTX 780M for better performance.

The 18.4-inch machine has Full HD (1920 x 1080) TrueLife display with good viewing angles and non-glossy finish. The device has Blue-ray player, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, Ethernet port and webcam. The other ports include four USB 3.0 ports, a SD card reader and ports for mic, headphone, and headset.

The device comes without any bloatware apart from the utilities to control the lighting, energy usage and screen.

One thing that Dell has not changed from the previous Alienware notebooks is the weight and size.

Dell has launched three models at Gitex — Alienware 14, Alienware 17 and Alienware 18.

Usually, battery life is a problem with high-end gaming machines due to power-guzzling dual GPUs and this is no different. It gives a life of more than one hour. It is priced at Dh17,999 for the 18-inch machine, Dh10,999 for the 17-inch machine and Dh7,599 for the 14-inch machine.
