Some UAE companies to stop projects and cut labour force, says Belhasa

Dubai: Dr Ahmad Belhasa, chairman, UAE contracting association, said during a conference on Thursday that he is expecting some developers and contracting companies to stop some projects and cut labour force due to the current financial crisis.

He is requesting the Ministry of Labour to find ways to transfer the extra labour force between companies and sponsors.

Belhasa was speaking at a seminar organised by the Ministry of Labour on Thursday to tackle labour-rule violators.

The seminar was attended by Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department officials, labour companies, contractors and ministry officials.

However, Belhasa said he has not been notified of any contracting companies that has stopped construction yet.
