Contractors and Police join forces to protect Sharjah’s construction sites
Sharjah: In a joint effort with Sharjah City Municipality, Sharjah Police are working to create safer construction sites through a new project focused on smart, preventive security.
As part of ongoing efforts to build safer and more sustainable construction zones, Sharjah Police – through Al Saja’a Comprehensive Police Station – launched a field trial in the Al Shanouf area.
The initiative, called ‘Security Monitoring’, was carried out in cooperation with the municipality and local partners.
The goal was to raise safety standards at construction sites by introducing stronger security measures. These included installing surveillance cameras, providing guards round the clock , and conducting regular site visits.
Contractors were also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in real time, with photos and on-the-ground updates.
Since the initiative began in March, no security incidents have been reported — a result that officials say reflects the success of the program.
Colonel Abdullah Al Mulla, head of Al Saja’a Police Station, said the project focuses on teamwork and quick communication. “We worked closely with contractors and gave them the tools to protect their sites,” he said. “In return, they kept us informed, shared updates from the ground, and helped us stay one step ahead.”
He added that the high level of cooperation played a big role in keeping sites safe. “The contractors understood their responsibility. They followed the safety advice and became true partners in protecting the area.”
Colonel Al Mulla stressed that keeping construction zones safe is everyone’s job — not just the police. “When security teams and the community work together, we create stronger, safer spaces for everyone,” he said.
Colonel Al Mulla said that Sharjah Police now plan to expand the initiative to other areas of the emirate, hoping to make safety a standard part of every construction project. The aim is to build not just buildings — but a secure and trusted environment that supports Sharjah’s growing development and the needs of its people.
