Ras Al Khaimah: The Land Department announced on Sunday that those who bought land originally granted by the government will have to produce all their documents pertaining to these sales by November 30, including maps.
A senior official said the Emiri Court earlier promulgated a law which regulated the sale of land granted by the government. The current official listing of the land sold was part of the implementation of that law.
The official added that these plots were granted to individuals to build houses, but the beneficiaries have been selling them on a large scale. This forced to the authorities to implement a new law which is expected to curb these sales.
The official said the department is in the process of listing all land that was granted by the government but later sold to other beneficiaries.
The official stressed that it was a must for all those who bought these plots to show up at the department within the deadline.
Disputes
The sale of these tracts of land has led to several disputes as the beneficiaries sold their holdings without maps clearly delineating them.
The official said the priority of getting land from the government will go directly to those who would benefit from the land by building houses.
