Operator says consumers will benefit from better service and discounts
Muscat: Opening of the tele-communications market and increasing competitiveness will benefit consumers in a big way, believes Adel Al Raisi, Vice President, Corporate Business, Omantel.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Al Raisi said that Omantel had already cut tariffs for internet rates and further cuts or concessions were on the way. "So far we have already offered over 30 per cent reduction in rates, especially for the corporate clients," he pointed out.
He promised that 2010 would see a series of price reductions, discounts or segmented discounts to the corporate as well as individual Omantel customers. "We want to be transparent, we want to competitive," he said.
In reply to a question, he said that competition was welcome. "Competition will bring better tariffs and better service for the consumers," he said.
He said that they were ready for the competition in the landline as well as internet segments.
"We are preparing to launch a series of products as demand increases," he said. Nawras, the second mobile phone service provider, has been given a licence to start landline as well as internet (including broadband) services in the country.
