Dubai Avaya Inc, a US-based provider of telecom network equipment, announced a contract yesterday to deploy its new Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solution at Dubai's stock exchange.

Some 20 brokerages, located at the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), will be connected to the new network, providing IP telephony, unified messaging, call recording and a virtual contact centre solution, Avaya said in a statement.

The Avaya IP solution replaces DFM's existing traditional telephone system and will allow end-to-end encryption to protect calls and call recording to meet UAE regulatory requirements.

All telephone conversations conducted over DFM telephone lines are recorded to ensure they can be retrieved in the event of disputes between investors and brokers or other parties.

Sine the Avaya solution uses digital recordings, the storage and monitoring of calls becomes much easier, the statement said.
