Dubai: Former Australian wicket keeper Adam Gilchrist wowed University of Wollongong (UOW) students Wednesday in a star appearance at the Dubai campus, where he acts as a global ambassador.
Here as part of a promotional tour of the UAE to meet with business leaders to discuss Australian investment opportunities, Gilchrist also presented UOWD's Outstanding Sporting Achievement Scholarship to Anish Ahuja, of UAE U15 fame.
"I've been ambassador of UOW for three years and my main focus has been to help build mutual relationships and partnerships between Indian businesses at the UOW. We've just come from great discussions there about furthering company's presence in Australia. I now plan to do the same here [in the UAE]," said Gilchrist.
UOW is developing a world-class technology research and development Innovation Campus near to its main location in Wollongong, 80 kilometres south of Sydney. Gilchrist's efforts aim to tempt UAE businesses to establish a presence there.
