“With the remarkable increase in demand, saving power and water is more important than ever,” Mohammad Saleh, Director General of Fewa said.
Moreover, across the Northern Emirates , the potential savings from turning off taps, turning up thermostats and thinking twice before using water or electricity, could reduce our carbon footprint significantly, he added.
The campaign is aiming to spread the culture of rational consumption for water and electricity across all segments of the society through different initiatives.
Under the logo of ‘Together we conserve’, Fewa launched the campaign targeting Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Um Al Quwain, Fujairah and Al Dhaid.
Saleh said: “The campaign will target main sectors as well where excessive in power and water consumption is detected, including, housing, government entities, schools and universities as well as mosques.”
The consumption of water in UAE have reached about 500 litres per capita, which is about three times higher than the consumption rate of the individual person in the European Countries, he added.
