Dubai: Etisalat DB Telecom Monday announced that it has given a Dh1.5 billion information technology contract to Tech Mahindra, as it rolls out its services across India.

Etisalat DB, previously known as Swan telecom, will be outsourcing information technology applications and infrastructure.

The contract will including system integration and managed services and will be spread over 10 years.

"We are confident that Tech Mahindra's exhaustive pool of IT skills and innovative delivery models will assist us in the forthcoming roll-out of service in India and delivering the best services and customer experience in the market," Etisalat DB's official spokesperson said.

The newly formed company is a joint venture between Emirates Telecommunications Corp and Mumbai-based Dynamix Balwas Group.

Tech Mahindra, jointly with Sony Ericsson, had also won Etisalat's Egypt outsourcing contract in February last year.

In September last year, Etisalat bought a 45 per cent stake in Swan Telecom for $900 million that had a capital of about $2 billion.

As past of its rollout of telecom services in India that cover a population of over 900 million, Etislat DB announced $2.2 billion (Dh8.07 billion) infrastructure share agreement with India's Reliance Communications) two months ago.
